Lovely Professional University is a private university situated in Phagwara, Punjab, India. The university was established in 2005 by Lovely International Trust, under The Lovely Professional University Act, 2005 (Punjab Act 25 of 2005) and started operation in 2006.
It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), a statutory body of the Government of India. Lovely Professional University is recognized by the University Grants Commission – Distance Education Bureau (UGC-DEB), entrusted with the regulatory work of open and distance learning mode of education in the higher education system.
